There are a few applications where e-books have advantages over paper - text books, technical manuals and reference books, for instance. But for the most part paper books are easier to read, more pleasant to handle, and too ingrained in our culture to go away. It doesn't help the electronic publishing movement at all that e-books are just as expensive as paper. Personally, I have a lot of e-books I downloaded for free that I read off my Pocket PC, but I wouldn't pay $7.95 for one. For a concrete example of how e-books are doing - Barnes & Noble online, one of the largest bookstores promoting e-books, has closed their e-book store. |

If so, I would love to hear from you sometime! On a whim I did a web search tonigh, hoping I might come across your name. Though I know you were married shortly after returning from Japan, I though it might be nice to hear how you were doing. I'll look forward to the possibility that you're the same person and to hearing how things have been. Warmly, R. |
