I once read about a company that handles or acts as a go between large advertisers, ie, Coke. GM etc. But for the life of me I can't remember their name. Or is there a company or companies that do this type of work.

I haven't heard of a company that specifically does that, but that could fall within the services of a marketing consultant. I do know of some startup magazines that got advertising from the likes of Absolut Vodka, but I don't know if the publisher approached the advertiser themselves or if they had help. It never hurts to approach a big company yourself through their marketing department. The worst they can do is ignore you.
